Vorsprung durch technik
I’m looking for anyone who can bring a little vorsprung durch technik to a “simple” Wordpress problem.

We have a site with 23,000 spam comments in the moderation panel. Wordpress only allows zapping 20 at a time, or a huge process of downloading the whole mess bucket, which invariably hangs the computer.
I’m seeking a quick way to zap the lot, maybe serverside using the MySQL panel. Has any bright spark got a handle on this?
Reward in Heaven.

When the moderation numbers in my defunct blog start to accumulate .. I just go into my SK2 options, then Recent Spam Harvest/ the Clean section/ … and then click “Purge Comment Spams” ..
That usually does it for me and there are no more moderation requests.
Just the other day I was upgrading my curling blogs from 1.5.1 version to 2.3 and consolidating the subsidiary blogs into the root .. and left it alone. There was 600 in moderation in the subsidiary blog and the above worked for me (I just tested it), except for about 15 that got through. I might consider adding the IP’s of these remaining one on my IP blacklist in the root blog - but, I’m lazy.

Sounds like you’ve got a spam program or plugin working there, HART. We just use the Wordpress adjustable spam rules. They work very well as long as you keep cleaning out the mod panel.

Seems like a lot less work with the plug’n'play plugins..

All my blogs have these. They save time.

Ah, yes, I thought so. I’ve tried a few of these and there have always been problems. We’ve got a system that works now, although we need to empty the mod panel regularly.
