Sickening, Exploitative Journalism

Our sister website Royal Anecdotes has reacted to the publication in two European newspapers of a photograph of Princess Diana dying with the above image. Read the piece here.
That some people have done this is a disgrace to journalism — a sickening, exploitative use of the media that should be condemned by everyone.

I agree totally! I remember when Dale Earnhardt was killed at the Daytona 500 and the autopsy photographs found their way online. It was totally inappropriate and unnecessary – most painful for the family. Yes they are a matter of public record but I think some responsible journalism is called for in situations such as these. Train wreck mentality can be carried a bit to the extreme. The best thing we can do to let the media know we disapprove is refuse to view these publications, whether they be online or in hard copy. And a brief letter to the editor wouldn’t hurt either!!

Absolutely. It’s the editors who should take the blame. They choose to run these stories and pictures.
