Bloggers’ Eyestrain Part 3
A few more tips on how to avoid bloggers’ eyestrain. Here’s a tip from Si, who left this comment on my Windows Vista blog :
“With respect to eyestrain I think the most important advice would be for users of LCD panels to only use the display’s native resolution, and also tune their ClearType settings to their own preference…”
ClearType tuning is available from Microsoft as a Windows download. Here’s one version :
ClearType Tuner PowerToy. An alternative to the popular online ClearType Tuner, Windows XP PowerToy lets you activate and tune your ClearType settings via the Windows Control Panel. Download it from here.
Another tip for persisent problems with screen-induced eyestrain is to buy a pair of magnifying glasses. These are just prescription-free reading specs with simple magnifying lenses, typically 2.5x. You can often pick them up in libraries, or even in gift shops these days. There must be a lot of it about.
Well, that wraps up this short series on bloggers’ eyestrain. If anyone has any further tips, please add them to the comments.
